Fast boats run from Bali (Padang Bai, Serangan or Amed) and from Bangsal harbour in Lombok, the duration of your journey depends on yourdeparture point.

Generally yes, the west-facing beach is calm and clear. Avoid swimming right at the harbour entrance because of boat traffic, and note currents can pick up on the east side in the afternoon.
